August 1st

Hey Guys! It is the first day of August and the first day to challenge yourself towards healthy living:)
I would suggest that you take the day to decide what it is you want to accomplish over the month.
I wanted to share my own personal view on how to feel good or healthy or happy.

I think the first step is to set realistic goals that you will enjoy doing. It is better to run 10 min every day then to not run at all. So even if you decide to run for 20 min but only have time for 10 do the 10 cause ten is more than zero!

EATING~
(1)You may not always be in charge of what people offer you or how the day unfolds. But you are in charge of what you put into your shopping cart! When you are shopping don't buy sugar and don't by packaged or processed foods.
(2) I want everyone to know that I still plan to have a glass of wine and chocolate during the month of August. What I mean by this is that if the majority like 80-90% of what you are eating is healthy don't beat yourself up for the little things in life you enjoy. Remember Stress is always a factor as well so relax and try to eat in a way that you feel well light and healthy!
(3) Cut out sugary drinks and take in more water!

Checkout my Nutrition Q&A page for more of a description on what to eat.

FITNESS~
(1) Set an amount of time of total workout for a day. Including stretching, strength, and cardio.
You might choose to do a little of each three each day or you might focus on cardio/stretching 3-4 times a week and add strength 2-3 times. If you are starting out from scratch please email me and I would love to help you write up some kind of workout plan that will work for you.
(2) Be positive!
Tell yourself that you feel better and don't be discouraged when you feel tired! Everyone has those days. You can always go for a walk. Maybe half way through you will feel like running:) But for the record I am not trying to bash walking! Walking is great and burns FAT:) Keeping your heart rate at a steady even pace is just perfect for fat burning!
(3) Try keeping a journal of your daily workouts and write down how you feel next to them. Also try writing up a weekly workout schedule and see how well you can keep up with it.
(4) Use your Buddy and be a Buddy! It always helps to have someone pushing or encouraging you and to keep you accountable.

I will be posting more workout ideas and videos as I have time throughout the month. And I will be setting up some community outdoor activities as well.

One more thing for whoever is in the area I would like to have a BBQ at the end of August to celebrate. SO put your name on my I accept page so I know who to invite:)

Have FUN!!!!

Being active and eating healthy is so much easier and more enjoyable when you are being motivated and guided along the way. My goal here is to help you challenge yourself towards daily activity and healthy eating! This blog is my community out reach project for the Nutritional Therapy course I will be finishing in October.

To start I have decided to post a challenge in order to create a platform for feeling healthy and fit as we leave summer and enter once again into the colder seasons! The challenge is “Git Fit August”! Listed below are 7 challenges that you can try out and personalize for your own schedule. I will be posting on my other PAGES; Yoga videos and other workout ideas, meal plans which you can use or take ideas from, recipes and other nutritional information I come across.

Here is a quick summery of the 7 challenges for the month of August:

1. Rebalance your eating! Cutting back the Sugar and planning out well-rounded nutrient dense meals that do not include refined or packaged foods, as well as keeping a food Journal of it all. Weekly Meal Plan… Food Journal… Nutrition lowdown throw-down

2. Start the morning 30 minutes earlier. Wake up with a short devotion and morning yoga stretch. I will be posting a video hopefully by the 1st

3. Setting aside a certain amount of time to workout 6 days a week. Maybe it is 20 min maybe it is an hour but whatever the time amount is try to stick to it you can add on throughout the month if you feel inspired as you perspire ☺

4. Try something new once a week! Maybe a new hike, maybe a new farmers market or a healthy local restaurant. A new swimming spot or biking trail. Climbing, yoga, boating, ice blocking, golfing. Something you always wanted to try and haven’t.

5. Buddy System! Take the challenge with somebody that can: 1 workout with you 2 encourage you 3 keep you accountable

6. Do something NICE! Maybe there is someone that has been on your mind. Someone you keep meaning to call but haven’t. Pick a day to volunteer some of your time. Maybe a local summer program, Maybe at church. Maybe a young kid or a busy mom or tired dad. Do it just because.

 7. Day of REST Pick a day to Rest, Enjoy your family and count your blessings☺
